Building bridges

This is mainly to Cape Town peoples but, of course everyone else is welcome to read and make a note.

We have two Hip Hop shows on Bush Radio and we try to support local music as best as we can. There are artists who already inform us about new music and send some mp3’s or so and so forth and that’s great. Now for all the rest of you a reminder that there is a platform on community radio for you to get your tracks played, gigs mentioned and surely you can always ask Headwarmaz about a possibility of interview/live performance in their show as well. We can’t find all of you so it’d be great if you find us.

Now I cannot obviously promise that all the tracks get on air or anything like that. It’s a matter of content and beats and things like that but surely they won’t if we never hear them.

Let’s build some bridges here between the Community Radio, Bush Radio 89.5 that is, and the artists.

Check out also few free online mixtapes. I promised some extra links this week. I always enjoys these (when it's free it's free you know). One that I found some time ago was Zimbabwean DKR (Divided Kingdom Republic) and they have a free EP online here. Probably the best free mixtape and a top record anyway was last years Drudge Dialect vol. 1. That's pretty much Cape Town stuff and can be found from the Africas Gateway.
From Africas Gateway I also found the link to Nthabi's EP From the Street to the Lab. This week I played the name tarck from that EP in the beginning of my show and I must say it's a really cool recording altogether. You Can download it here. Lastly and most recently I found a cool mixtape from Shystie. She's one of the top London MC's as well and on her MySpace there's a link to Grand Theft Audio (GTA) mixtape. Get that from here.

All these are either zip or rar files which means that you need to unpack them. You can downlaod the WinRar for a 40 day trial from here to get your music to a format you can then listen to.
